Antique Solid Silver Double Albert Watch or Neck Chain & Fob 24 & ½ inch Long 1894

This one is a very heavy antique sterling silver double Albert pocket watch chain with graduated curb links, a t-bar fob and working dog catches. Each link of the chain is hallmarked with the lion passant sterling silver mark. The bulls eye link is hallmarked Birmingham 1894. Both dog catches work well, and close tightly shut. Both dog catches are hallmarked for sterling silver. One is hallmarked Birmingham 1894 maker’s mark HB. The other dog catch is hallmarked Birmingham 1918 maker’s mark HB&S. The t-bar is hallmarked for sterling silver Birmingham 1894 maker’s mark HB. The sterling silver fob has an empty gold shield cartouche. To the reverse the fob is hallmarked for sterling silver Birmingham 1919 maker’s mark GL. This watch chain is long enough to be worn as a necklace.

Weighs in at 150 grams approx.

Measurements: 24 & ½ inch long approx. Plus the extra 1 & ½ inches of chain links attached to the fob.

Condition: In excellent condition. This chain has been made from two watch chains. However they are an excellent match. The gold shield cartouche on the fob was not correctly centered (it is a little off centre) when it was made 102 years ago. Please see photos
